Quality you can see
We at LiberProxies made it our mission to deliver the best quality proxies in existence. We are accomplishing that mission every day anew — with every order. By using the latest printing and image processing technology we are making sure that your proxies live up to even the highest standards.
Scan VS Digital
While other services rely on unrefined scanned image data from Scryfall, we at LiberProxies have built our own database with tens of thousands of digitally remastered card images.
Cards that haven’t been digitally remastered yet are still reworked by us so that they too deliver a clean and sharp print image.
Next Level Detail
With our Retina Proxies we have truly reached the pinnacle of card print quality. Texts and symbols have been sharpened to a point where the naked eye cannot see any pixels — hence the ambitious choice of name “Retina”.
These babies have been described by our customers as “prettier than the original”.
Quality you can feel
We are using 330 GSM Black Core cardstock — Made in Germany. Weight and thickness are identical to original cards — our proxies won’t stand out to the touch among your original cards. Original cards use a Blue Core cardstock and are therefore a touch stiffer, but once the proxies are sleeved, not even veteran players will notice a difference from the original — and we speak from experience.
Why is quality so important to us?
Because we appreciate the game of MTG and its design and artworks. We understand that an immersive gaming experience is important to the game and we don’t like to be reminded that we are playing with proxies each time we read the rules of a card or admire its beautiful art.
Read before you order
Reading the website explains the website
We’ve taken all the necessary precautions for you to be able to check the quality of the card you selected on Moxfield. If your cards are categorized as Retina®, Digital Remaster or New Set then we can guarantee great quality prints. But if there are cards in your list which have only “Upscaled” quality then you are responsible for checking the card quality on Scryfall. Some versions simply cannot be printed in good quality due to the source material being very bad.
You CANNOT make us responsible for your choice of card versions.
Don’t upload trash
If you upload your own custom card images then you are 100% responsible for how the prints will turn out. If your custom images look bad then so will the print outs — maybe worse. Make sure you understand what a bleed is and select the bleed option when necessary so your cards don’t turn out weird. The opposite is equally important: do not select the bleed option unless your card has a bleed.
You CANNOT make us responsible for your uploaded card images.
Printers hate humanity
As with original Magic cards you will have slight variations in print results between each batch. Digital printing is influenced by many factors: temperature, humidity, toner batch, new components, runtime, software updates etc. So even though we are striving to keep quality consistent there are always minuscule variations between every print batch. WOTC isn’t able to keep their quality 100% consistent with their multi-million-dollar equipment but we come very close — definitely closer than WOTC. Oh, and printing machines LOVE to break down, which can delay the next print run. Join our Discord Server to be notified when that happens.
Keep a cool head
We are a two-person team (one person does printing and cutting and the other one does packaging and shipping) and we are handling dozens of orders at once. So maybe your order will miss a card (almost never happens) or we forget to add a couple of holostickers (they are so small and flimsy!). Please always contact us on Discord if there is anything amiss and we will work out a reasonable solution that is acceptable to both parties.
Shipping: our Achilles heel
We take a lot of time to securely package your cards so that they arrive in pristine condition but as soon as we hand over the envelope/parcel to the shipping people it is out of our hands as to what will happen to your cards. We are working with the most reliable services but sometimes the postman has a bad day and will throw your envelope or parcel over the fence, maybe to the neighbor’s dog so he can play with it. So if your shipment arrives damaged or is lost (which happens more often) please contact us so we can work out a solution together. We always offer a free reprint once an investigation turns out successful. Those investigations may take time and sometimes the provider will claim that they successfully delivered the goods, contrary to your experience. We will believe your account of the situation but please understand that we cannot simply reprint and ship cards for free when somebody claims that the shipment never arrived (even though according to tracking it was delivered successfully). So in those cases (successful delivery according to tracking, contrary to what you are saying) we offer a free reprint of those cards in your next order.
Questions & answers
Are MTG proxies actually legal?
LiberProxies sells a service (the production of cards), not off-the-shelf goods. The proxies are your property as soon as they are printed — they then merely pass into your possession once they are delivered to you. You may only use them privately and must not resell them. We never print the original card back, so proxies can always be clearly distinguished from originals and attempts at fraud are prevented.
Here is the official statement from WOTC regarding MTG proxies, or “playtest cards”:
“Wizards of the Coast has no desire to police playtest cards made for personal, non-commercial use, even if that usage takes place in a store.”
How are double-sided cards handled?
On the back, the wording “Playtest Card - NOT FOR SALE” is printed in red at the very bottom right — or bottom left on Retina cards.
Can foil cards be printed?
In short: no — producing foil cards in Germany to our quality standards is not economically viable. LiberProxies will only offer foil cards once they can be produced to our standard.
What if my cards are only available in foil?
If you want artworks that are only available in foil, we can print them as regular non-foil cards without any problem. Do take a good look at the image on Scryfall though, in case we only have that version in “Upscaled” quality.
Can my cards be printed in German?
Yes, although we don’t have every card available in German. During the order process you’ll see which cards are available in German. The quality of the German cards also varies — you get the best quality in English.
Is there a right of return?
Since every order is a 100% custom production, orders are excluded from the right of return. PayPal Buyer Protection covers you in case LiberProxies cannot provide proof of shipment. If you have any doubts, feel free to read through the reviews on our Discord or on Google — our customers couldn’t be happier.
